Homebuyer Tax Credit Deadlines are Looming
Posted by Cliff Collins in Buyer Tips, Kingwood real estate, Uncategorized on April 7, 2010
The homebuyer tax credit deadlines are looming. If you are looking to purchase a Kingwood home, there is still time to take advantage of the $8000 First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit or the $6500 Homebuyer Tax Credit for current homeowners. However, time is quickly running out. You must have a home under contract by the end of day on April 30, 2010. That only gives you 23 days to find that perfect Kingwood real estate property and get it under contract.
You are considered a first time homebuyer if you haven’t owned a home in the last three years, even if you have owned a home previous to that. You are eligible for up to the full amount of either tax credit if you make less than $125,000 as a single taxpayer/married but filing head of household or if you make less than $225,000 as a married couple. If you make more than that, you may still be eligible for a portion of the tax credit. That is why you need a Kingwood real estate professional to help you.
So, if you are looking to purchase a Kingwood home and want to take advantage of this great opportunity, you need to contact me today. We’re running out of time. The homebuyer tax credit deadlines are looming. Prices are right, interest rates are still low and there are still plenty of Kingwood properties to choose from. I hope to hear from you soon.

Keller Williams Presents Free Spring Break Concert in Kingwood
Posted by Cliff Collins in Kingwood News and Events, Uncategorized, West Lake Houston real estate on March 9, 2010
Keller Williams presents a free Spring Break Concert in Kingwood on Friday, March 19, 2010 from 7-10pm. The 5th Avenue Trio will be performing classic rock tunes from the 50′s, 60′s, 70′s and 80′s. Because the rain cut the 5th Avenue Trio’s previous appearance at Keller Williams’ November free concert short in Kings Harbor, they have returned to honor their rain check. The special charity guest attending this month’s concert will be Including Kids, Inc., a local Humble charity that helps autistic children with education and therapy. If the weather on March 19th doesn’t favor an outdoor concert, we’ll give it a go again the following Friday (March 26, 2010). Come on down to Kings Harbor (1660 West Lake Houston Parkway, Kingwood), bring a chair, a blanket and a cooler to enjoy great family fun during Spring Break in Kingwood. Don’t forget that Keller Williams sponsors a free concert in Kings Harbor on the third Friday of every month at 7pm. You don’t want to miss it!

Posted by Cliff Collins in Kingwood News and Events, Uncategorized on March 3, 2010
This year, SpringFest will be happening in Old Town Spring, TX, on Saturday and Sunday, March 6th and 7th. One of the largest wine tasting events in the Houston area, SpringFest not only offers fantastic wines from all over Texas, but also offers live music and art to enjoy. Old Town Spring’s very own Wimberley Valley Wines will be just one of the wineries displaying their wares. This is a great way to taste local wines before you purchase them and be exposed to all that Texas wineries have to offer. Sixteen different Texas wineries have already signed up for the event.
If you wish to volunteer to pour and serve wine at various wine stations throughout SpringFest, please contact Wimberley Valley Wines’ manager Jana Valentine at 281-350-8801 or email her at wvwtr@yahoo.com.
If you are not a wine drinker, don’t despair. SpringFest will also be presenting micro-brew beer tastings. And, as always, there is plenty of good snack food available. In addition to the wine and beer tasting, participants in this year’s Old Town SpringFest will be able to view original artwork from local artisans. Artwork includes photography, handmade crafts, jewelry, knives and wood carvings in addition to hand-painted art.
Admission to SpringFest is absolutely free. However, wine-tasting tickets will cost $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Each wine-tasting ticket will get you one commemorative wine glass and five tastings. If you wish to purchase additional tastings, they will cost $1 each. For more information or to purchase your tickets, please visit the Old Town Spring’s Wine Fest website. All proceeds from SpringFest will go to benefit the Spring Preservation League, a local nonprofit group dedicated to keeping Old Spring Town beautiful and preserve its history.
Hope you come out this weekend to enjoy the 12th annual SpringFest in Old Town Spring, TX.

Harris County HOME Program
Posted by Cliff Collins in Buyer Tips, Harris County real estate, Kingwood real estate, Uncategorized, West Lake Houston real estate on February 17, 2010
The Harris County HOME program helps low and middle income families buy their very own piece of the American dream. With funds provided by a HUD grant, Harris County’s Home Ownership Made Easy (HOME) program allows Harris County to purchase up to 40 foreclosed homes in the Houston area and offers them to qualified first-time homebuyers for 20% below the purchase price paid by Harris County. This keeps foreclosed homes in the Harris County real estate market from sitting idle for too long, lowering Houston area home prices and becoming a target for vandals. Harris County’s HOME program will pay 3% real estate commission as well as 6% for closing costs for the first time homebuyers involved. As Harris County homes are sold through the HOME program, more foreclosures are purchased to replenish the stock. The Harris County HOME program is expected to continue for approximately the next two years. A family of four that earns as much as $76,000 per year with good credit and has not owned a home for the last three consecutive years may qualify for this unique program. Most of the foreclosures purchased through the HOME program are in the newer Harris County subdivisions.
If you want to find out more about the Harris County HOME program or see if you qualify, please visit the Harris County HOME website or contact me. Let me help you get into your Harris County home today.
